that is the problem here is the setup.....92 si hatch w/ b16a3 swap, chipped p28

Your ECU isn't directly tied to the igniter....but the ICM [igniter control module] is.
Have you done a tune-up lately, changing out cap, rotor, plugs, and wires?
You will typically see people replacing both the coil and igniter as a set. When one goes, it typically takes the other with it.

What kind of wires are you using? a friend was using nology wires and he was going through coils until he started using different wires....
just a thought...
