Default cel, wtf!!!

yesterday i was driving my hb when i noticed the cel came on, the gas gauge was below empty. could having an empty tank cause the cel to come on? i put gas in it and it did not come back on. maybe just having low fuel pressure or something?

are you sure it was your CEL and not just your gas light?

Yes it could light it on... i your tank is empty it can easily loose the pressure inside...

Lost pressure = CEL

Try to pull out the error code...

actually, you still should be able to pull the code. the ecu stores the code even if the CEL goes off

Are you talking about the Check engine light, or the ECU light?

Ok so you turned your car off, put a paper clip or somethign similar in the service connector by your ECU and then turned the key to the on position and your check engine light is stayed solidly illuminated?

Did you do it with the car running, or did you leave it turned off and put the key in the ON position without starting it?

If the former, do the latter. If the latter, ask someone else.

Jump the SVC Connector with the car totally off. Then turn to on position and see if still solid.

If still the same find someone with a PGM Tester. Unfortunately I'm a little out of your way.
