Default Oil leak at VTEC switch?

'95 GS-R
I think it's leaking at the VTEC solenoid or the cam seal, something over at that corner of the valve cover. I've already replaced the valve cover gasket. It still leaks, & I've tried to narrow down the location - still not sure. It's got 122k miles, so I don't mind replacing a few gaskets.

I guess I'll get #s 8, 12, & 14?? Would those cover the likely leak spots? Am I missing something that I should replace? Is there anyplace else it might be leaking from?

well, you should try and clean up all the oil around where you think its leaking. after you clean it up start up the car and take a look and try and pinpoint the leak..

It might be a good chance its the cam seal. They are known to leak from there very often. HTH

The OEM plastic CAM PLUG (also referred to as cam seal) is very very prone to cracking.

crappy OEM cam plug on left... obvious STR on the right.

I highly advise you to not buy another OE plastic cam plug and invest in something wiser like an STR cam plug. Sure it will run you around $30, but every penny is worth it.

Heres a link that covers the installation in case you want to get down and dirRty.

99.9 % sure its the cam seal. very common problem. might as well slap in a new billit cam seal along with the other 2 cam seals on the other side of the engine.

Mine was #14...the middle vtec solenoid gasket. Look at the vtec solenoid, if the lower section is oily, then you know thats the problem because oil leaking from the cam seal cant get up to the vtec solenoid

I've done that 3 times & I can't see where it comes from. I'm thinking it's not #14 because the lower part doesn't get too oily. It leaks out so slowly that I have to drive several days before I get anything. Then the oil is kinda blown all around. I don't mind replacing all 3, but I wanted to know if there was any others in the neighborhood.
