Default Spark Plugs: What causes them to go bad super fast????

Okay we had Bosch craps in there... and that was last night. I pull them out just now and the bottoms are already black. Wtf?

So I go and get NGK's... put them in.. ride it around the corner.. pull them out and they're turning black already too. When I started the car up.. it ran PERFECT.. smooth as hell.. then a few minutes later it was sputtering again. When I tried to give it gas.. it'd die out until I revved up a few times and it came back. What's the problem?

I have the distributor turned all the way towards the firewall. That might be a bad thing.

The car is a Civic CX. I'm using Civic CX injectors on the motor. I have a feeling that this is part of the problem too. But first thing's first... ignition.

If I can before I go to work.. I want to try and change the rotor button.

What do you mean black spark plugs....

Is it the whole thing (insulator and tip) or part of it????

Smoke coming out the exhaust???

Is it backfiring under the hood and exhaust???

Did you do any mods to it before it started to do this???

set your timing correctly first.

Okay i'll get these one by one.. Thanks so much for answering guys..

A) The bottoms of the plug are turning black already. Like I pulled the fourth one down the line out..and the bottom is already burning. THe car is not smoking.. but last night with the BOSCH craps in.. the car was backfiring LOTS. And after driving it around the block once.. it started backfiring. When I cranked it.. omfg.. I was so happy because it was PERFECT.

There is a bad 02 sensor.. well basically because the CX has a one wire 02 and the p28 is looking for a four wire.. I haven't wired one up.

Which way do I need to turn my distributor? Towards the front of the car? How far? What should I listen for in change of pitch in the engine when I do this?

You need to get a timing light and set the timing correctly. No one can tell you where to set it correctly without actually being there with a light.

I am not real familiar with Honda ecu's, but if you don't have your primary O2 sensor hooked up there is a good chance that it is running in limp mode. This usually means a very rich condidtion. Also check your coolant temp sensor. If it thinks the car is cold, you will run rich and foul plugs.

Yeah man someone just told me about that.

I have a wiring harness for a z6 on the way right now. Can't have this thing running like crap. Screw that.

I know that its because your o2 isn't wired up right.

yes its cause of your o2, will run really rich and foul plugs constantly.

Aside from the O2 sensor being the likely culprit....check your timing with a timing light.

It seems you don't have a Helms either, get one of those to.
