Default ECU for b20z2 non-vtec

I took my car to the track this Saturday for winter warm-ups and ran my full b20z2 (block/head/LS manifold) with a few mods like cold air intake, jdm DC 4-1 headers, stage 2 racing clutch, straight 2 1/2' piping, etc... Thing is I was using a po6 obd1 DX ecu that revs to like 65 (only thing I could come up with). The low rev ecu was killing me and at the end of my 1/4 mile i was in 4th gear at about 4k (gsr tranny). I ended up just doing 3 runs having my best time be 15.09 with this low rev ECU, the question i have is.

What ecu can I put in my obd1 b20z2 teg to get it to rev up to 7200-7500 safely, and is it safe to rev my b20z2 non-vtec (no internal work done) up to 72-75? I know the b20 is a low rev motor, but a lot of techys at the track said I get peek power at 6-7 grand and I was missing out on the most power up there with this po6 ecu.

Thnx in advance

i'm "assuming" your car is obd 1? 92-95? I think it'll be safe to rev to 72-7500, but i'm not a b20 expert. I recommend looking into the pr4 or the p75 ecu. Both are LS ecu's....should be A LOT better than that civic dx ecu you were using!

ya my car is ob1 it is a g3 94 teg hatch. i was reading somewhere that this guy had basically the same setup as me and was using a skunk2 chipped p28 ecu and said he reved up to 72-75 with no problem. thing is, i get nervous using a high rev (9grand+ ecu) b/c you never know when you might miss a gear or just do do something stupid and and rev that thing to high and have something crack.

Another thing I was wondering was, he has a non-vtec b20 like mine, but was using a chipped p28 (vtec enabled ecu) I would think when vtec enabled it car would bog a little (or maybe a lot), or would the ecu just disable the vtec when it saw that there was none?

Basically I am wondering if the car would run better with a vtec ecu such as a p28 (si) or p72 (gsr) rather then just a P75 (ls)

thnx in advance for any help.

the p72 and the chipped p28 are vtec ecu's, and it shouldnt work good on a non vtec motor such as your b20 set up. I'd recommend running the p75 ls ecu since its just more appropriate. What you can do now is go to the all motor forum, and ask the same question........you might find some other b20 guys who can give you some better insight....

The LS and the B20 powerband dies out after 6k (because of the cams and the IM design). Why do you want to take it up to 7200-7500?

what is the point of taking it so high if there is no power to be made...You like going slower?

so do you think the best thing to do, to rev up to 75 and get the most power with my b20 is get some type r cam rods? (for now that is) or should i just get the v-tec head first? and if you think i should get a vtec head, how much is a good price on a b16 in good condition? and which b16 head should i get?
