Exedy Vs ACt who makes the better clutch?
I was looking at the ACT Heavey duty stree/strip for my b18 and the exedy cerametalic cluth. The act costs more but price isn't everything. I'm N/A right now but i want to put a turbo on next year and i want a good clutch.
Exedy is the way to go
Both are good but Exedy fives you better options thus making it better.
BTW- I would suggest buying a bigger (holds more hp/tq) clutch so you won't have to upgrade later

I could be wrong but when I got my act I swear the disc (part with pads on, can't remember name right now) was an exedy piece.
Maybe ACT gets the disc from them and everything else is made in house?????

Most of the custom performance builders use Exedy/Daikin stock components to build into performance kits. This is why I prefer to sell the Exedy which does not use reworked stock components in their performance kits. The Exedy units, stage1, 2 , 3 and even the twin disc are true performance clutches which do not compromise driveability with performance.
hey mr clutch, im looking for a new clutch so i can put in while i swap my motor in the next 2 weeks.
im going to be putting in another jdm b16 longblock on my gsr tranny. i was checking out your site and i was wondering if you could give me more info about the different stages of exedy clutches.
currently im using an ACT 4 puck clutch.
i have read that puck style clutches dont have a break in period, as opposed to organic ones which do.
one of the more important factors also is clutch life. after reading your site, im still unsure which clutch would last longer. i will tell you this tho, based on the information, im leaning more on the stage 2 normal thickness.
i dont see anything about the different pressure plates you have. does exedy only offer one style of pressure plate, or is it already prematched for each clutch style, e.g. = stage 1 would be a normal pp, stage 2 would be a extreme pp, etc
please answer my questions, im really interested in getting an exedy as opposed to another ACT thanks alot

The exedy units are prematched as you mentioned. The stage 2 is similar to the competions stage 3. Many customers have told me the stage 2 exedy is very smooth for a cerametallic clutch. I would suggest the stage 2 or higher for anyone more than moderately modified and planning on doing some racing of any sort. The stage 2 exedy will outlast the stage 1 under similar conditions. I hope this helps. We also guarantee to have the best deal on the exedy line.
