i got a short shifter and cannot get the old shifter out to put it in. i got the through bolt out 2 orings and two spacers, its disconnected from the shaft, the old shifter just wont come out and i dont see any clips. The car is a 1990 civic std hb manual. any ideas on how to get the old shifter out would be great thanks.

out of the the where the ball pivots in the top shaft that dosnt move.

take loose the bolts as numbered in in pic:

 

i was afraid i would have to take those bolts out too... one of them is rusted so bad it looks like its all one piece ill try liquid wrench 2morrow thanks for the help(no thanks to the haynes manual)
