Default What is better..... 98 Civic or 98 Accord?

I am thinking of buying one of these....which one do you think is the best? Civics are slow but the parts are easy to get and are cheaper. Accord i think is not as easy to hookup and the parts are more expensive but i know nothing, i am just a learning n00b who has lots to learn from you experts on here.

Thanks

It all depends on what you want. You can do the same to both and spend about the same price. All the parts are about the same. The only huge difference is the weight.

Damn. I never new accords were that slow.
I am looking for 3 things while buying a car.

#1- cheap or not to expensive.
#2- Speed, need speed!
#3- Looks, must look good and stand out.

I am thinking about a acura now or maybe even buying an 1997 BMW 3 series and hooking it up. I am leaning towards the acura though. Anyone else have any good ideas? Maybe i can find a good deal on one

dang...your all over the board w/ civic vs. bmw.

Re: the BMW, if you've never owned German, be prepared for some mechanical surprises. Things break...it's a fact of life....it's definately not a honda. BMW's are nice driving machine but very expensive to repair & somewhat difficult to diagnose.

German vs. japanese is a totally different owning experience.

Very true. If you want a decently fast car right out of the gates I would recommend a WRX (you could get a 02 for about 20K) AWD+Turbo=ownage.

If you are wanting to stick the honda as far as civic vs accord. Your best bet for handling and weight is the civic. All hondas are really good as far as parts compatability. Most people that customize an accord is the reason to be different. A f22 turbo or an h22 are going to be your best bet. Also the accord could go on a diet and it would be comparable. Do what you want to and have fun. Remember if it comes with a turbo stock your going to pay OTA (out the ***) for insurance just FYI. I personally like hondas due to reliability and cost.

cool.....thanks for all the advice....it really helps. I was checking ot parts for the BMW.....wow!!!!!!.....they are so $$$$$$$$$$$. The body kit for a BMW costs 5 times more then they would for a honda. Well now i have narrowed it down to acura rsx or honda and i still have to read more about the WRX that you said was good.

I came from hondahookup.com and they were a$$holes to me because i am a "ricer" and i am trying to learn. This is a great site and i am very happy with the people on it.

Thanks

I have an 01 automatic turbo accord and it's pretty quick. I'm not sure how far you want to take your performance mods but if you want semi fast a turbo accord is great. But don't get an auto the transition between gears suck unless you upgrade.

Personally, I hate small cars. I need space.

Just one of the reasons that I chose to get an Accord.

If you are worried about weight dont forget to think about power too, remember its all about power to weight ratio.
