well this really sucks basically heres the run down
The other day the tranny was perfect, today I got into it and was driving normal like i always do and, well i was in first gave it some pedal i was at about 8 grand and went to shift and the tranny wouldnt let me shift into the next gear..
"wow i thought thats weird "
so after that i started experimenting and at HIGH RPMS the tranny will not let me shift or takes a while to shift ... almost like there is something holding me back from pushing it into gear...
I let mikesarr and bert-o take it fO a drive to see whats da matter and they say its the 3rd gear syncro "which is grinding"
MY QUESTION IS why then also are the rest of the shift patterns doing the same "1-2,2-3,3-4,4-5" all have the same problem agian which is me having to kinda force it in.
any sugestions , will one bad syncro effect all the rest like that , i am haveing the same problem in each gear at high rpms.
all help suggestions needed/wanted/appreciated

same thing happened to me. Unfortunately its your clutch. I bet you anything one or more of your tabs on the preassure plate which hold the disk are broke, making the clutch sit crooked and not fully engage.

cool welll thank you for all the info guys
the only thing is now the 3rd gear is grinding at 4 grand deep .. do you think thats related to the clutch or do you think the syncro got buRned out because of the bad clutch

My first thought was clutch/pressure plate combo hmmmmm
I dont know if it could be the 3rd gear synchro because all of the gears are having trouble.

that could be it as well
that could be it as well
This happened one time to me, and it was the clutch. A metal shard type piece of crap broke off somewhere and stuck in the clutch, and the clutch was also worn to ****. I fixed it by just throwing in a 99-00 Stock Si clutch. Held good for me for about 6 months...
Yeah, RFever had the same thing happen on a track day last year. Tried bleeding the cluch and all sorts of other stuff- turned out his clutch was toast.
Sorry dude.
Good luck.

I guess it'll be the clutch. I got the same problem half year ago and when the mechanic checked my car. We found out one of the spring on my clutch disk was popped out and stuck between the plate.

Mine was right on the edge of doing this when I pulled it apart to put new clutch in.
Got a 143,000 miles out of it though haha

now for the final question which is what clutch to go with ... i like the characteristics of the OEM clutch ... or I could get the same excedy ORGANIC clutch which will have a slight better clamping and friction....
all opinons welcome
