Default ls/vtec rods and b16 pistons

im going to put b16 pistons in my ls motor. i am hearing all this stuff about going to a machine shot to have the rod shaved. is this true? if so any one know how much to shave off the rod?

You dont need to shave the rods to fit a PR3 piston on it. It will give you 11:1 with the LS head.

People shave thier rods to
1: make them that much lighter (not a good idea)
2: make them accept "R" series pistons (CTR, ITR, GSR)

If you run any "R" series, you have to shave 1mm off each side of the small end of the rod. Or, I guess you could just modify the pistons.....

But no, you dont have to worry about that.

do you know what compression it will make a a b18b1 block witha pr3 b16 head?

this is a good place to tinker with combinations of engine parts

BTW: you will make 10.8:1 with just the pr3's and a ls head
you will make 11.3:1 with the b16 head
