The reason why you do not have VTEC engagement and disengagement at the same point is this: Imagine if it engages and disengages at exactly 5500, and you are driving right in that range, 5455-5600 RPM. The VTEC is going to rapidly turn on and off and your car will buck like mad. Instead if it comes on at 5800, and stays on even if you're at 5500 etc until you drop below 5400, no bucking. I worked with an aftermarket EMS for a time and there are a vast number of features that are controlled this way to prevent the feature from rapidly switching on and off, though I forget the correct term for this method of prevention.

For your cars safety and to save yourself some headaches just don't use the vafc, don't change any settings, don't do anything. May as well just unplug it or enjoy the pretty readouts if you're not going to let someone who knows what they are doing, a tuner, mess with it. Just trying to help out here.

why dont u just hook up a vtec light indicator? I know it might sound RICER like, but it works and i know exactly when my vtec engages when my led goes on.

u don't need a light for a si. just put an intake on it and you will clearly tell when engagement hits.
