Default Rear Quarter Glass

Some idiot in Philly decided to break my rear quarter to steal my worthless radio so now I need to find a replacement. If i bought the glass from something like a junkyard or ebay, how hard would it be to replace just that quarter? It's not like i'm trying to change the windshield, just a small piece of glass so I dont think it could be that hard.

Thanks,
Will

you'll need to clean all the old crap off wiht a pair of gloves and a razorblade knife. then buy a $10 tube of urethane and a caulking gun and put down a 1/4 in bead all the way around the opening. then set your glass in straight and push it in tight. put some masking tape(good 3m stuff, not cheap stuff) to hold it for a few hours til it dries. nothin to it.

woah.. there's a little more to it then that. it's actually a triangle shaped 8mm x 12mm beed. your also missing out priming and having to put the moulding on first. The urathane they use is not typically available just anywhere.. (well, not around where i live..)

I'd just let the pros do it... no it's not a windshield, but i watched both my windows get glued in the other day and i don't think i could have done half as good a job on my own..

if your feeling brave, and your not as picky as me - then download this

it's under "Windshield, ..... , Quater Glass"

I installed my own windshield awhile back, i borrowed special glue and special glass primer from friends at a bodyshop.

Window looks good and dosent leak.

Ive decided im going to change out the mouldings on the rear quarter glass becaues of dry rot, im going to do it before painting, so i can primer under where i put the mouldings.

Im assuming it would be the same technique as a windshield? Cut out old glass.. Be VERY carefull not to crack it, clean down area on body down to bare steel, primer, and then on the window, use a razor scraper, clean off the glue. Then primer both surfaces, slide on moulding and lay a nice bead of the special window glue all the way around on the glass, drop it in, dont push it in but just gently seat it, then tape it up real good in place.

Everything sound right???

Definately. My glass just got put back in my rex after being painted. It looks easy when you watch them do it but its a biatch. Glass guys aren't too terribly expensive.
