Default Easy Ball Joint Question

Hey Guys,

I was wondering if anyone knows about OEM ball joints? The rubber part is torn and its leaking grease. I'm wondering if I can get a new rubber boot or do I have to get a new ball joint because the Honda dealership doesn't sell it any other way?

Any ideas?

Thanks!

it comes in as one unit.. you can't get the boot by itself
I think energy suspension has a ploy boot for the ball joint..

I got the boot itself from Acura for my Legend. I've still got it, but not the Legend. Never installed it, I wonder if it fits other cars?

51225-sr0-a01 Boot, Ball Dust 1.95
52338-sl0-003 Circlip, Control 3.32
90146-sa7-000 Cotter pin 0.12

Or you can get the whole unit

51220-s04-003 Joint, Ball Lower 44.28

Prices are list prices....you can get them cheaper off http://www.hondaautomotiveparts.com

Hope that helps

I would replace the whole ball joint instead of just the boot. the boot is ripped an grease is leaking out. so dirt is getting in and with no grease friction is building and add dirt to that and alot of friction is building. anyway you didnt say what ball joint but things like bump stear and even alignment angle problems can happen. hope this helps.

Thanks everyone, Im going to do it the right way and get 2 new ball joints. I believe that I have to get them pressed in or something. I dont want to go hitting this with a hammer.

Thanks again.
