Default ITR muffler spec..... [SEARCHED]

Hey all,

i just bought an ITR muffler for my planned exhaust setup for my 95 LS. I was going to fit it to some custom 2.25" catback piping for a light mod. Over the research i've done on the topic of using an ITR muffler on other dc2's, it states the ITR muffler has a 2.25" inlet, which ties into the ITR catback piping size as well. Problem is, the ITR muffler i've just bought measures a 2" inlet (this is measured right at the inlet hole, where the bpipe and other piping has been chopped. I only purchased the muffler itself.)
Now people might suggest I've bought a bogus muffler, but I got it from an acquaintance, and also, it looks EXACTLY like the muffler in this post--->

If anyone could shed some light on this it'd be greatly appreciated. A friend suggested that the '96 ITR muffler could have had a different sizing, or that the muffler is in fact a 2" inlet, tapering from the 2.25" system?
At the end of the day, if i fit this to my original plan of 2.25" catback, it'll be a waste of time correct? As in the 2" inlet muffler will merely "choke" or bottleneck my little modified exhaust system?

thanks in advance guys,

Jon

I have this saved in my notepad, but it's regarding the exhaust. It was posted my SMSP.

Stock ITR is 57mm OD (2-1/4") with multiple bottle necks. The worse being at the B pipe inlet which is 1-3/4" ID. The B pipe necks down to around 2" or 2-1/16" OD at the B pipe to Axle back joint and the muffler tubing is 54mm OD and then necks again to 52-53mm right before it enters the muffler.

Awesome, thanks for that. I suppose I'll sell it and find something with a 2.25" inlet.

cheers for your help.

Why not just remove the bottleneck and weld on a larger pipe? I did it with the inlet to my B pipe with a pipe from SMSP.
