Default Has Speedvision stopped showing Touring Cars?

After looking at https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=77701, it occurred to me that I haven't seen British, German or Aussie touring cars on Speedvision in a number of months. Anyone know if they ditched it?

How do you know it was replaced...

I think they show the touring cars towards the end of the year. I think BTCC went off the air, did you see last year there were only like 4 makes of cars...very boring!

They are losing money. Austrailian I think will still be aired.

Im just waiting for whatever the Motorola cup is called now....

Well, the TV guide on my TV said "motorsport mundial" and totally nascar was on tv. I guess that doesn't necessarily mean it's replaced, but it's still a step in the wrong direction

You are better off getting a big expensive satellite dish and hope you could get european channels, europeans love racing. They show a lot of FIA events in europe that you will never see over here. They must have channels that air WRC, FIA GT, etc races. I thought SPEEDVISION was going to grow in that direction (showing european stuff) now all SPEEDVISION is is a mix of TNT, NBC,(cuz of NASCAR), and ESPN mixed in with FOX sports. I don't even watch speedvision anymore because when ever i turn it on there is something about nascar and all the other times im busy i don't get to see what is on.

i guess u guys haven't heard. there is no more btcc. it got too expensive for the factory teams so they all bailed. leaving the series with nothing and it was therefore ended. the old super tourers have become the "touring cars"

That's exactly right. I was in Germany a couple of month ago and have to say that they love racing over there. That's road racing. I saw live DTM qualifying sessions with lap after lap of onboards followed the next day by the race, a FIA GT race and a round of the European Le Mans Championship all in one weekend. It was great... I also saw the Portland (if I remember correctly) ALMS race aired live. And yes, they also showed highlights of a Nascar round on one of their motorsports news shows. It was great...

And now, to top things off and get everybody jealous , on Monday I went to check out the Nurnburgring and out of pure luck I arrived in the middle of a private test session of a car that hasn't made its debut yet in North America. It was a Porsche GT2 R! I couldn't believe my luck. This car is basically the twin turbo version of the GT3 R/RS that we see here in the ALMS in the GT class. It looked very close to a GT3 R but with some additional scoops and it sounded noticeably deeper in engine tone and somewhat quieter. Oh, and there was no mistaking the sound of the turbos spooling up either . I'm curious how it will do here against the C5Rs and Saleen S7Rs in the GTS class whenever it arrives.

I have seen the Motorsports Mondial on Speedvision recently, but it never seems to be on consistantly. I specifically got Speedvision for BTCC and other touring car racing and I have been fairly disappionted so far. Although I have enjoyed the excellent F1 coverage. I finally saw some Speedvision GT racing from Laguna Seca when I happend to go home for lunch one day last week. Why in the hell can't they show that during prime time instead of Ship Shape, My Classic Garage, or some other crap like that? I think Car and Track takes the cake: I'm not interested in current NASCAR races, what makes you think I give a **** about NASCAR races that are 30 years old?

Actually...if they'd just show that "Lap of the Gods" thing 24 hours, I'd be perfectly happy with that.

If you guys haven't seen it...it's in-car footage from the 1970s I think, with F1 drivers. You get to see like three, maybe more, laps - and the announcer only talks during the first one, to give you a feel for the track.

Every show on every television station should be as cool as LOTG.

Some of you have already seen this, but it showed up in my email this morning:

Not looking too good for ANY TC series.

Motorsport Mundial is on every Friday night....This last friday it was another round of European Truck racing and British Rally cross....some cool stuff. One thing I wanted to see this weekend but missed was the TransAM race in Houston, I'm pretty sure it will play again this week though....SpeedVision GT and WC races are usually shown on Friday nights BTW...

The fia rally this season got a 1 hour show. There was not enuff time to have the touring cars and the rallies on during the summer. So speedvision is going to show the BTCC during the fall and winter season.

Motorsports Mundial has tried my patience excessively. I am so tired of the European version of Monster Truck Racing, and watching Doug Lampkin negotiate indoor trials courses. To the best of my knowledge Speedvision aired the Laguna WC race ONCE - thanks alot. The F1 coverage is much appreciated although the camera angles usually destroy all perception of speed - MS was so fast at Suzuka that it came thru though. Somewhere between now and the 1970's the knowledge of how best to film motorsports was lost - or the definition of best underwent a revision.

Scott, gripe-gripe-gripe........he likes things the way they used to be....and dislikes revisionists......
