Default No brake lights in 89 Prelude Si?

I just found out that I have no brake lights in the car... Checked the fuse, and it was blown. Put a new fuse in, tested the system, and the fuse blew, and there was a strong smell of burning wires from under the hood. There's got to be a short somewhere, but any suggestions on how to find it?

I'm also thinking that I'll probably need to run a new circuit for the brake lights... Sound like a plan???

Okay... Here's what I was thinking as a quick fix, or until I get the summer car back on the road...

I tested my wires on the bulb sockets, and found that red/black is the tail light and the black was ground, so I assumed that the green/white was my brake wire... So I sent 12v to the green/white wire, but I get nothing... Any suggestions on how to get this functioning today???

Update... Was just trying some things, and I cut that green/white wire on one of the sockets on the driver side, and I replaced the fuse, and I have brake lights... Held them on for about 45 seconds, and no blown fuse and no burning smell...

Maybe that socket was shorting?? No idea... But I have brake lights now and I'm happy... LOL
