Default Driveshaft 'useable'?

Do any of you guys who know about the Prelude VTEC driveshafts and whether I can use this still. Heres a pic of the driveshaft without the end section drooping in the wheel arch.

The right hand side driveshaft outer tripod-joint and knurled section + rubber boot came off when I pulled the steerig knuckle off! (was stuck I guess)

Will it clip back in place easily??
I know they're not rebuildable but not sure about this, anyway heres the best pic I've got of the driveshaft sticking out:

Any help is much appreciated

Go to the parts store and get a new cv boot kit. It will come with the boot, grease, clamps, and the c-clip that holds the cv joint on the axle. The joint is actually supposed to come off like that, just not quite that easily.

Anyway, put the boot& inner clamp back on first, then put the grease in the boot, put the new c-clip back on the axle, finally put the cv joint back on the axle and tighten all the clamps down.

Well axles are rebuildable. It has been a long time since I have done it but if the boot it good you will need boot clamps (new ones) and packing grease. The outer joint that came off will have 3 grooves in it. The joint bearings fit into to these groves. The part that came off of your shaft is a 3 prong spindal. It has 3 "arm" and they fit into the holes in the bearings.

So basically cut the boot clamps off. Slip the boot onto the shaft. Pull the spindal out and remove the bearings off the arms. Secure the spindal back onto the shaft. (Sorry I cannot remember how it secured on. I'm thinking it used a pin or possibly a "c" clip) Next put the bearings back onto the spindal arms and then slip them into the outer joint. Pack the joint and bearings with grease and pack the boot with grease. Slip the boot back on and secure the boot clamps. Done.

For future refrence NEVER EVER pull on an axle. Even if this doesn't happen if the boot has enough play you can pull the bearings out of the joint and then you have to do all this I explained again. Use a hammer to tap it out of the outter knuckle and then a pry bar to "pop" it out of the tranny. Never ever pull them. You can push them or if you keep them str-8 use a hammer to "pop" them back in but never pull.

Cheers guys, BTW: I wasnt pulling on it purposefully, when I was about to remove the steering knuckle I tapped the extruding part of the axle with the plastic anti vibration mallet and it was visible loose receeding freely near flush with the front face of the rotor, Just when i pulled the thing off it just came off and the outer section was stuck!
Hey how much is clamps or a full cv boot kit?

Cheers for the help!
