Deciding between the "R" or 3rd generation RX-7
this is a huge deal for mebacuse im about a month away from getting my car and i have narrowed it down too those too choices i wolud like too know how they compare too each other reliablity prices if i get the R i want the jdm coneversion with the JDM motor already installed. im pretty much leaning towardsd the R cause theres just something about that car that keeps me wanting it more thne other cars the reason why i through the RX-7 into it is cause alot of peeps sayits faster but im really not lookin too do just 1/4 i want too do more grip but still have some speed to kick a lil ***. thanks

R=bullet proof.. balanced car.
Rx7= Great performer, .........wind proof, that's about it
unless well
maintained.
other aspects (in stock form)
Braking=tie
0-60=Rx7
1/4 mile=Rx7
skid pad=tie
slalom=R, if I remember correctly.
cost to maintain=R
cost of parts (ie wear items, brakes, tires etc.)=R
resale value=R
theft=Rx7
insurance=Rx7
fuel econ=R
overall performance potential=Rx7
but to me, I don't care how fast my car is if I can't enjoy/drive it

I've thought about the same two exact cars before. Unless you've got **** load of cash I'd gat an ITR. The RX-7 is deff. a great car for tracking but it will put a big whole in your wallet. If you got the $$$ up keep, get the RX-7!!

From what i understand, this experience is pretty common. I can beat on the R all day long at the track, change the oil when I feel like it, and not worry about it blowing up.

I've heard/read many a story of having to rebuild WAY too often. I'd get an R
Now if you've got a nice paying and steady job and don't mind some downtime here and there.. almost everywhere, get the 7.. 7s are also known to flood alot so if the car doesn't turn on on random.. don't be scared
Oh yeah.. you could just go with a diff motor to avoid the motor problems? I dunno maybe someone with a lot more experience can add on.

Yeah, 20B
You can ditch the factory emissions nightmare. And the sequential turbos... and go single turbo, and standalone ECU. Or if you want to keep it stock, buy a car thats already had a new engine/turbos and the issues addressed (cooling, vacuum lines, etc). You will probably spend a bit more up front, but alot less in the end.

Rotary engines...hmmmm. I dont know about buying an engine that so few people are knowledgable of. Dont get me wrong, i am sure that plenty of people out there work on them but the ratio of individuals who could work on an RX-7 and a honda vtec are going to weigh evenly.

yeah it looks as if im gonna get the type R cause alot of people told me that the RX-7 is fast but not reliable and they said that you will end up spending more money on the long run and plus just something about the R that has me exciteed
just try not to be surprised when your type r isn't there one morning when you go out to your car. I'm serious, make sure you have a garage or it will be a matter of when will it get stolen not if it will be taken.
If you want reliability then get the R. My boy as a G3 RX7 and he is on his third motor rebuild. They apex seals are so easy to pop in the RX7 you need to have a lot of patience, another car to drive, and money to keep it fixed. He puts about 500 miles a year on it too. The RX7 is definately a nice car and when running well it is scary fast.
yeah i have a garage. i live in an very closed off apartment complex....only old people live here. anywayz i was wondering all of you all owners.. do u really not go to like the mall or the movies with your R if so what car did you guys pick as a daily driver and what other places do u guys not go with your R.
