Default Is this a good price??( sleeve labor cost)

I talk to this guy at a machine shop about resleeving a motor, and he said he can do it for $45 a cylinder. He said bring in the block and the sleeves and he'll install them for 45 a cylinder.

Are steel sleeves good?? The guy said he'll sell me some steel sleeves and install them. He says they're good and that's what he uses in his race motors.

The funny thing is that the guy is a domestic person. I told him I can't run forge pistons unless I resleeve the motor and he was like what????

What do you guy think?? Would that place be a good place to go to??

he probably doesn't know that the Prelude's have FRM(Fibre Reinforced Metal) liners in the blocks.

Sounds like **** to me. I had Golden Eagle quote me and they sleeve, bore, hone. etc....etc... for $2250 and will even install your pistons and rods if you provide them. $50 a cylinder.....hmmm....sounds like bending over to me and taking a poor quality job up the a$$.

This guy sounds like the dude at the machine shop i called the other day. I told him i was planning on running forged pistons and needed to re-sleeve the block. He was like "Who told you that?", "You dont need to re-sleeve".

I was like "Do me a favor and stay away from my car".

Its amazing how some of these people think every car is the same. Thats how you end up with screwed up engines. But $180 for a sleeve job? Some people would jump all over that but anyone who knows right knows that a good sleeve job will run much more than that.

Maybe he'll double his cost to bore the sleeves to make up for the low price of installing the sleeves? Either way, that is an awfully low price.
