Default X'd out headlights?

I've seen many pictures of cars with an "X" on the headlights...can someone explain?

Been explained before but I know search is hard.
X or the blue tape is so that when/if you crash or anything the glass/plastic from your headlight doesn't get over the track making it worse for other racers

track cars...so the glass wont shatter all over the track and cause flat tires...

If a stone gets kicked up and shatters the lense on the track the tape keeps the lense together so glass doesn't fly all over the track. It's pointless on a street or show car.

its also to prevent the light from shinning into the other car smirrors ect, since some cars have running lights( i belive i know its that way for motorcycles) and you also need to unplug the harnesses if you have running lights(head lights that are constantly on)
