Why does it have to be the stock "JDM" one? What's wrong with Quaife, Cusco, or Kaaz?

It'll probably end up costing you more (time, money and effort) to get a stock JDM LSD then it would to go grab one of the above mentioned.

Cause these are like a grand. If you can find a used oem one it'll probably set you back 400-600

As allready mentioned it will not fit in a USDM gear case. You have to get the whole tranny if you want the JDM LSD. They have better gear ratios too that is why i went with them.

Where did you get that? M2B4 LSD tranny has the same gear ratios as any USDM 4th gen prelude.

Unless you mean compared to 5th gen prelude...but they're really not that much shorter...the 5th gen 2nd (1.956) is shorter than the 4th gen (1.950)

Nope, not in my experience anyway, we could not fit it, it was too loose 2 shims and it still wasn't in.

why spend 600 on a used oem one, you could get a quafie for a couple hundred
bucks more and have a better lsd with a lifetime warranty

If the Quaife doesn't fit in an M2b4 tranny, will it fit into an M2A4(non-LSD)?

yes it should, and it should fit in all 97-01 trannies even with LSD like the euro-r, type-r, f20b etc.

what's an RS?

Anyways, I don't think so...people have put quaife's in euro-r lsd's but I can't tell you for sure because I haven't done it myself

the RS is the Cusco LSD (along with the MZ). but if the Quaife will fit, i may get one of those instead. i was under the impression it would not because the differentials were different sizes from the US to the JDM. hence, my confusion.
