Default Fuel injection, new technology?

Why is it that Suzukis have had fuel injection systems since 2001 (GSXR series) and so have CBRs, but what's with Yamaha just getting fuel injection on the R6 last year?

I dunno..maybe they just weren't ready..they fuel injected the R1 in '02 and then the R6 in '03...probably so they could get it right on the R6 cause R1's suck J/K

i guess carbs gave more power but sucky gas milage and worse for the environment....so they switched to fuel injected to save more gas and better for environment.....that is what i think...i dont know..i am just babbling...

i don't think so....carbs lag on responce time with fuel and can be upset and so forth, fuel injection system is a much more efficent manner of fuel managment....i don't think power has anything to do with it...

partial throttle tuning is easiest w/ carbs. FI is only implemented due to environmental regulatory concerns. Also the precise metering allows a slight increase in fuel economy. The zx7r will not be fuel injected ever b/c they do not plan on bringing that model beyond the epa deadline for certain emission levels. I'm thinking '05 off the top of my head. The r6 received an fi setup recently b/c the new design model just came out. There would be little sense in setting up an FI system midway through the short production cycle of a cutting edge sportbike. Hence new bike, new fuel delivery. As to why suzuki went first? Who knows, they like being on top in the sportbike world. God knows they don't do it elsewhere (commercial automotive)

Wasn't Kawasaki the first to implement FI in 2000? I could be mistaken.

I think the Hayabusa has always been fuel injected, which started in 1999 I believe?

my carb'd 02 r6 gets great gas mileage! id still like to get FI, carbs do not like too many temperature variations.
