Default STR cam sprockets slipped.

My STR cam sprocket slipped, so the tunning that was done to my car was a waist. Yes it was tighten by the tuner shawn church, its not his fault str sprockets have a weak material, weak bolts that bend when you tighten. I tried contacting them for three days now, and know one is there. It rings and rings, I heard they made new and improved bolts but If I cannot contact them then whats the point. So what's a good sprocket AEM? for H22

I will be going with skunk2 gears because they have a 6 bolt desing. AEM gears where know for slippage but i think they have re-designed them. Check out their website.

yeah the old design ones used a really thin washer under it and they crush when u tighten them. The newer design moves the bolts a bit closer to the center so they can squeeze on a fatter thicker washer and solve that problem. they are in the process of moving to a new location so its pretty hard to get in touch with them right now. try sending a PM to the user STR on this site, thats scott over at str, he should be able to take care of you.

i personally hate skunk2 cam gears... i have seen several sets where the center wore out, mainly on race applications though. the wear costed us a b20vtec.

i have hayame gears.. the center is made of stainless steel.. the bolts suck, but 10mm bolts go right in so i replaced all the hex key bolts wiht 10mm bolts from my bolt collection.

if i had to buy any id buy aem, they have the toughest bolts of any gear and you dont have to use a damn hex key.

Samething happen to me. Afterthing was torque down to spec, and only after about 40miles after getting my motor rebuilt the exhaust cam slip. Lucky no valves was bent.

So I had the bolts tighten and also check the intake gear to is if its in spec and after only about 2 or 3 miles of driving ALL of the bolt on the intake came off . Now i'm running the skunk2's and haven't had any problems yet.

I think the skunk2 2's are not very good just my 2 cents since my cam gears slipped with the "almighty" 6 bolts, right now I am waiting to get a set of billet usa cam gears

5.5 of the six bolts came out of my skunk 2 ones...but i dont blame the gear. i blame myself cause i did not personally check them when i reassembled. i since replaced the bolts and they hae seen some hell for awhile now...13#'s worth.

I am sorry to hear that, However we try our hardest for customer satisfaction. When we search for product parts we try to look for the best; whether it's wahers, bolts, o-rings or whatever. We may have had a bad batch of washers we get 10,000 an order. The weird thing is Trbspnkr, I drove over 50 miles to hand deliver you and your buddy a gasket because you needed it so bad on a Saturday and neither of you had never shown up to meet me. You and your buddy could not figure out how to properly install the Throttle body correctly, but I did help you through the correct install. The first thing you did before even contacting us was post a negative about something that was actually just a misunderstanding. I realize your upset and I am usure of the blame without examining the Cam Gears myself. As to posting into the several differnet forums, I am unsure of the reasoning behind it... If there is no answer at the shop leave a message, go to our website and send an email or PM me. I am more than willing to help and work with anyone who has bought STR products.

You know what...I really hate it when people do that. Especially on multiple forums. I'm closing this up. I will expect you two can come to a satisfactory solution, if not let me know.
