indash monitor...removing safety feature...
theres a recent thread about a guy wanting to bypass the switch for a indash monitor so he can use the monitor while driving, i already have mines installed and just wondering where they tapped into my ebrake...and to bypass it, do i just have to ground that wire...!!!
i've seen a "bypass" box the sell on ebay, other than that, we hooked up a toggle and momentary set up in my buddies car and that works fine, just the e-brake light stays on when it's activated. he picked up one of those boxes recently, supposed to install it this weekend in his hatch, i'll let you know
just an FYI... grounding the E-Brake on alpine screens will not do anything. You *must* do the squence with the foot brake and parking brake, or try to find the bypass module used for demo walls.

Exactly. With mine, we have a momentary and a switch both hooked up, so that when I turn the car on, with E brake up, I have to hold the momentary, put the ebrake down then back up, that bring the monitor display on. But to drive away, when you put the ebrake back down, the monitor will shut back off, so I flip the switch to fool the unit into thinking the ebrake is up. Gonna try the black box this weekend as Opi said, just to make it hassle free in my other car.

My set up is pretty much like opi. I use a toggle switch and a push button to send a signal to the brain (as if it was the brake pedal that I was stepping on, and the the toggle swtich to move it like the brake handles. So if a cop was to ever drive by me I could just turn the toggle switch off and it would say picture off for your safety.

I've actually never got pulled over for the screen being up. Even if they see that the screen is up and the picture safety is off, can they still write you up for it? I've wonder on that one.

Yeah, in SD they will.

They shouldn't ba able to if they can't see full motion video (movie or game)..a lot of people have navigation units running that use those same screens, and they are not illeagal.
Now, if the nice police officer has you pulled over to see the screen and it says "picture off for your safety" and he asks to sit in your car and finds and flips the toggle and sees "Fight Club" on pause....yer pretty much screwed!

I dont think a cop would ever ask to sit in your car...just from a safety standpoint. And they cant search it without your permission anyways...and if they try to pull some probable cause BS ask them to get a supervisor out there.
It's actually a NHTSA law about the video in the drivers view... which carries I've seen pretty high fines listed in Mobile Electronics Mag (for those of you who knows what that is).
ok, i have the IVA-C801.. alpine for u that dont know..
i wanna bypass that b.s.. so the ebreak to a ground wont work to throw the unit off thinking the ebreak is on right? so thats outa the picture..
anyone have any experiance with the blk boxes or whatever u use to bypass it? how do they work, and are they hard to hook up? any pics of where u hid ur switches?
i just wanna see some pics of peoples setups of this blk box switch and where u put it.. like a slick place.. think u could hook it up to an existing button? like ur window lock switch on the driver side door pannel?
