i was wondering if anybody knows why check engine light is on its a 89 CRX with a b16a engine from a integra GSX from japan the computer isnt throwing any numbers and also theres a rough idle anyone know please help

 

Couple of questions first:

Is the idle rough all the time?

Can it rev higher that 3000 rpms or so?

check the oil, is it low?

Is the idle moving up and down...

PROBABLE CAUSES:

1. The engine's computer has detected a problem in the system.
2. The engine has a serious problem that should be repaired at once.
3. The engine's oil pressure is exteremely low.
4. The engine is overheating.

You have to look for the obvious first... Connectors, wires and that sorta thing

your ecu is defunct... get a new one

 

the ecu was throwing throttle body errors i think it was error 14 but after replacing the sensor it fixed

 

im not the installer my friend is, he doesnt want to let it run i been trying to tell him let it run for like 15 mins because it been sitting there right? it has brand new oil in it and has platium spark plugs in them id be sure to tell him do you think it will break or blow the engine if i rev the engine to 3000rpm? thanks

Was this a simple engine swap, or a complete teardown and rebuild...

If it was engine swap, and the engine was running ok before, then you cold let it idle and rev it up...

it wasnt no rebuild i bought it from a store where they import japan engines and i bought it there has only 30k miles on it which i dont truly believe but i donno hit me up thanks~!
