Default Any Ohio people (Or Buckeyes) Out there?

Hey I'm most likely going to be moving to Ohio next year because I've been accepted into Ohio State University and got a schollarship so I guess that's where I'm getting dished out to.

I've sort of been scared of the whole thing for a few reasons. 1) I know absolutely no one out there. 2) It's cold as hell from what I hear 3)Not sure if theres much of an import scene. 4)I'm not going to have a garage to work on my car in 5)I'll be a broke college student.

Anyways I'm just looking to maybe meet someone so I have someone to bullshit Honda's with when I move there this summer.

*Raises Hand*

I am currently a student at Ohio State and love it here. I'll try to offer some insight.

1) If you live in the dorms, you'll meet more people than you ever wanted to. This can be good or bad. If a lonely commuter like me can meet tons of new people, you should have no problem.

There are also, quite literally, a ton of different clubs. If you are into cars (which I think it is safe to assume you are) we have several student projects teams at our Center for Automotive Research (C.A.R. ). I am on the Formula Buckeye SAE team currently. The guys in the club are great and really know there stuff. I have made several friends through here .

2) No colder than most other states around here. Usually stays above 10 degrees here in C-Bus (Columbus), even though this winter has been unusually cold. Several small ski "resorts" around here if you are into snowboarding or skiing.

3) I don't know how much of an import scene is a good thing, but there are plenty of forums and sites that you can get together with to hang out and stuff. I am currently on Ohio Hondas and they organize meets and cruises during the warm season.

We also have National Trail Raceway if you are into drag racing and Mid-Ohio road track that are great for getting your racing fix. There is also a local Auto-X section that runs at one of the parking lots at OSU.

4) Can't help you there.

5) Aren't we all?

You should like it here. Of course, I may be a little biased, since I've lived here for the past 16 years of my life.

Very cool. Do you need an SCCA license to go to the track events. Also how is the ground there? (I'm not sure if you're into street racing) but is it like ice/snow covered or does it just stay really cold and dry?

the weather in C-bus is a LOT like Seattle... it gets a bit colder, but not TOO much, and winters are mostly 30s and rainy...

Eh, it doesn't rain that often. Nothing like Seattle or anything like that. Winters are usually more grey and cold than anything else...
