front mount inter cooler on a 2nd or 3rd gen teg
What is the largest fmic I can fit behind the front bumper of a 90-93 integra or a 94+ without midifying the support etc?
I found a huge fmic that i want to use, just not sure if it will fit.

Modifying the support, as in the bumper support? Or the plastic of the bumper behind the front area?
Basically any intercooler (even the small ones that Drag/Revhard use), you have to trim the black plastic behind the bumper.

no, I was refering to the metal..the "bumper support" not the bumper cover. I figured i would end up trimming that back.
The intercooler is about 22x9x2.5
I just need to know she will fit.

Yeah you'll either have to trim it or remove it completely and just have some brackets made.
Most kits come with a 6.5-7" tall intercooler and it sits perfect with Bumper support, like Newgsrdriver said any bigger and it will hang pretty low.
If it were me I would just remove it and make some brackets for it.

That's the Drag Intercooler. Fits really well.
Had to hack the back of the bumper itself though..but, that happens
Small price to pay
How much of the bumper did you have to hack? It looks like much of the grille is still intact. Did you have to cut any of the bottom part around the endtanks? And where is your IC mounted on your bumper support (front/back)?

Well, if you kinda look closely, when I mounted it, I cut approx. 1.5" out of that center grill piece where the end tanks are. Directly below those, I did the same. I notched out the flat part so the end tanks and the start of the piping there would fit.
The intercooler itself is mounted to the bottom of the bumper support. Total height of that intercooler is approx. 6.5" or so. I don't recall the total length of it.
And, I'm sure someone will notice, there is no pipe going into the driver's side of the intercooler. I'm well aware of that. Everything is currently under construction and waiting for some things to arrive.

Apparently different cars have slightly different tolerances for the Drag intercooler. When I put mine on (bolted it UNDER the support), I had to pretty much cut out all of the grille area. Even then, it was right against the red part of the bumper. Lemme get a pic......
Sorry, this is the only pic I have. In the middle, there is a tiny bit of space betwen the IC and the bumper (about 0.75inch). On the sides on the endtanks, it's right against the bumper, actually rubbing it. This was on a 98+ bumper. Not sure about the 94-97 ones.

EDIT: Found some more pics, y0!

Then again, I have seen some (my friend's and some here on HT) that had much more room and left much of the grille intact. Strange.

So, I should find a 7 inch one tops huh?</TD></TR></TABLE>
Yeah, the Drag one I had was about 7 inches and sat perfectly. Any taller and it would stick out underneath.

WTDR is probably down at the moment.
Thanks for the pictures Shamoo. Did you mount yours on the front of the support or as far back as possible? That may have been why yours was rubbing.

9 Inches is too tall. My friend had one on his car and it sits 2 inches below the bumper and his intercooler almost ripped off once when he backed out of his driveway

Well since we are talking about width too, you shouldnt have problems fitting a Drag FMIC width wise. I managed to fit my Precision Intercooler (3.5 inches thick)in without any modifications besides your regular cutting of the plastic behind the bumper. I did push the A/c lines back about 1/2" but other than that it fit fine.
The intercoolers that DRAG/Revhard uses fit nicely behind the stock bumper and bolt to the front bumper support beam. The only thing you might have to do is trim some of the grill away on the inside of the bumper.... not cut the grill out (unless you want to) but trim some of the depth away so it clears the end tanks. The FMAX kits have a taller IC and it hangs too low in my opinion, but there's less cutting to do there.

Yup, We-Todd is down now.
Anyway, I mounted mine flush against the front, so that's probably why. When I first put the turbo kit on, I had some ricey WW Aggressor bumper on, so I had plenty of space in there.
After going to 98+, I realized how little space there was. I had about another 0.5inches left that I could have mounted the IC further back on the support.
