There's a part of me that actually feels guilty about the embarassment "Team Have a Rice Day" is going to cause for all other marques... Nah. I'm over it.

We have a secret weapon this time. Shultz is actually bringing matching tires.

 

I don't really feel that bad either. Will be carrying the Acura flag with pride (and hopefully with a car that makes it through the weekend)

I am seriously looking forward to Gus' and all the nose-splurting-beer laughs I can take before the side-stitch and lack of air renders me a red-faced-unconscious dribbling idiot capable of uttering phrases no longer that "12 inch!"

 

In the interest of proper trash talking...any estimates on everyone's lap times?

I'm shooting for a 1:55. Towne got me at a 1:56, with Zsolt riding shotgun on the now-famous "three Toyos and a Kumho" weekend. Oh yeah...and I want to win DSP (duh) and get a top 5 raw time like I did in April (not bloody likely).

BTW Renee...the thing in the middle of the car is something you can pull up on to get the car to rotate. Seeing how you're in DSP with me, you should probably just drive the whole track like that - this way, the car is ready to rotate in any corner, without you having to even think about it.

 

You track guys(ngalz) think you all badass mfer's just cause you can drive round a rodecourse. All you evr do is talk $hit about each othr.

I turned a 2:04 last year in the time trial. The car was stock and I was on street tires. My brake pads also resembled dead carp.

This year, I want a 1:57 or better.

Matt, who's looking forward to passing some expensive German equiptment.

Adam...it really doesn't clear it up so much. Remember, at some point in its life, that 944 was expensive German hardware. In fact, a certain BMW I'm thinking of cost something over 30K when it was new in 1989.

There's yet another BMW, a blue one, that I *dearly* hope will be there. This April, said BMW pitted in after I caught him. You can clearly hear me making fun of the guy as I drove by.

I hear ya and I knew (or at least thought very strongly) that Matt was referring to a certain Bavarian car not one made in (Red)Neckarsulm. Indeed the Porchey was probably silly expensive to the first two owners - I just pay the "get it back into shape" bills, which are comparable to the cost of the car

I am just doing some preparatory self-deprecation in lieu of the *** spanking I forsee running with you guys under a clock. I would hope that if Matt can get into the 57's that he'll have the decency with that extra time to wave as he goes by me.

The more I get it out there that I am not fast now, the less back peddling I forsee doing on Nov 3 and 4. See ya'll at the Explicative Inn in a couple of weeks.

Oh BTW, Gus' Friday or Saturday?

 

I may have found one more secret weapon. I might be able to oil down the entire track during my hot laps. The more I look at the car, the more I'm reminded of James Bond movies, or that old Spy Hunter video game. You know...the one with the car that had oil slick and smoke screen as available weapons.

And Adam - why not Gus' both days? There really aren't a lot of other choices in beautiful downtown Kershaw.

I dearly hope you will be able to get a blown-up version of that to put on your hood. Maybe Acura will like it so much that they will consider using it in their next ad campaign. I can see it now ... How can I possibly compete with all you guys in your turbocharged Integras Don't worry about our little old BMWs. We're no threat, unless you guys all go off making sure that you win Or if you run over an oil slick left by one of our old, tired "presonal luxury sedans".

Out of curiosity -- to see how competitive we all are -- anyone have lap times from VIR-full course they would like to share?

Unfortunately I did a quick financial reality check today. A brand new set of 225-45-15 Hoosiers would be a scant 700 bucks. All that money for effectively one weekend, since they'll probably get ruined sitting in the garage, unused, this winter. So the quest for used tires begins.

And Huck - I've been told that my car doesn't lift a leg. Guess I need to change that, and start marking my territory.

 

1:55s is all I can conceivably hope for with ring blowby and busted front shocks. That's what I was doing in August anyway.
Once I get the motor and suspension tidied up this winter, I'm hoping to see low 1:54s. I'll need it to hold off shultz once he gets his **** together (or Fowler in an ITA car... sheesh).

2:20s at VIR long. Very unofficial. I crept into the 19s one time, but that might have involved a tail wind on the back straight.

And Adam, Renee has been in the house for a while, it just takes some prodding to get her to post.

Gus's both nights is fine by me.

Man .. you guys need some variety. Bring some cash and we can go to Pearl's in Camden. Best southern counrty food I have had! Gus' 2 night in a row last time was enough! I just hope I can go! Damn unemployment!

Yup. You can. I try to get to CMP early to do all my non-towing peasent labor and leave the car over night.

 

Not to **** on the Pearls idea, but the reason I stay in Kershaw in the first place is to avoid the trip to Camden.

 

You do realise that Kershaw has:

* One hotel
* One red light
* One decent place to eat
* Two gas stations
* One grocery store

Not a lot of selection if you ask me.

 

Sweet smoking jesus, that's nice. Mr. RoadRacer, you need to be going, ah, roadracing. That's a top ITS lap time. Do you know your indicated speed in the uphill esses? Must be 115-120 for a lap like that -- I'm usually about 110.

I'm going to start exercising my arm for all the point-bys at Kershaw I'll be giving. Consistent 2:26s were the best I could muster at VIR-full. 3 year old heat-cycled-to-death Toyos and a full interior are my only excuses.

 

I shouldn't do this...but I can't help it. Given that I ran a 56 in August, I wonder what would happen if I had...

Matching tires from Hoosier. A not streetable suspension. LSD. Gut it. Welded cage. Rebuild my 120K+ engine. Stop driving it to work and to the track. Etc...

Hmm...time will tell. Probably next year.
