i put my aircon in the beater (90STD) last week or so but i have not received the condensor fan yet. Is it ok to run the ac without the fan for the mean time? Any problems that can come about with not having the condensor fan? will it damage anything?
thanks

No air flow across the condensor will create very high head pressure..
Which may cause the pressure relief valve to open, which will lose the refrigerant..

88DXCRX: the purge seems to still be open. when i try to fill my system with refrigerant, it just goes right out of the compressor. how do i close the valve?

I looked through the service manual and at my car itself..
It seems there is not a pressure relief valve used in this type system..
So,You may have blown a o-ring or possibly the compressor seal..
See if you can determine the exact location of the leakage with soapy water
or the ultra-violet dye leak detection..
