i'm getting ready to get a 98 prelude sh that has 98,xxx miles on it just wondering if its gonna last or plan on putting engine in it thanks for your input and yes i'm new here so if done something wrong sorry

 

Do a compression test first off. See what kind of numbers your getting. If the engine is in good shape then it will have plenty of life left in it. I wouldn't worry about a new engine unless you plan to do many mods to it. Even then a rebuild would be more likely than a need for a new engine.

 

worst case how much would a rebuild cost? i have a 94 delsol si and the engine died so i'm just gonna get a lude plus its faster than what i have and alot newer and better looking

 

The engine should be fine as long as the previous owner took care of it. How did your delsol die?? Dont tell me you didnt ever change the oil or some nonsense. Well anyway youll be getting one hell of a car. Just make sure you maintain it and all will be well.

 

the cost of a rebuild depends on many different things. Like what parts (OEM/after-market) also what other things you choose to do, like re-sleeve, Port Polish... What shop does the work, if you do the work....
But yes it should be fine and won't need to be rebuilt for a long time if you don't beat the thing and you take care of it. Change your oil, filters.....

 

if that compression tests good and you take vare of your enghine you can make it last for as long as you want.

 

why not just put an h22 in your delslo it will be much faster and then use other money on suspension and motor upgrades

 

well right now its just makes more since to get that car cause i dont have the money to buy an engine like that. Dont get me wrong id love to keep my sol just makes more sense right now
besides that lude is sweet as hell it has some things done to it already

 

i don't know how it died i went out of town for about two months and when i got back i started i up and it ran for about 2 mile started knocking and died


yes i had oil no it didn't have 2 much or 2 little it mad a funny noise when i got it to be honest i dont have enough knowledge to figure out whats wrong with it but it sounds like it's a spun bearing but i thought that only happens when there no oil

 

why dont u see whats wrong with your old car so you can fix it and sell if you still want a lude??
