car is making a funny noise. Any ideas?
I was driving home today and i was the on the Highway. Everytime i pushed the break, accelerated, or let of go of the accelerator, the car would make a knocking sound. As i drove down the highway it started to get fast and sound like a helicopter kinda sound. Any ideas?
I also tried the search function seemed like this guy was having the same problem.

Did you take off the front wheels and have a look around? While youre down there check the boots (both innder and outer). I had a problem similar to this, but i knew it was my CV boots. If theyre ripped and you drive on them long enough, even the slightest turn of the steering wheel while driving will make them click and if bad enough, knock. In my case they would knock even when driving straight
Changed them out and the sound is gone. Good Luck

sounds like motor mounts...
you can see the two front torque mounts pretty easily.... they are on the underside of the frame.... one at the tranny and one at the a/c bracket...
the rear isn't as easily seen but its in the center on the rear crossmember.
let us know what you find

well im hoping its the axels. My dad and i took the wheel off...when we turned it one direction then the other direction suddenly it would make a click sound. The inner outer CV boots are fine. Its the inner ones im worried about. I will jack it up tomorrow and take a better look at in the sunlight. I think im probably gonna have to get rid of the car soon if this keeps up.

axels are $70ish each from autozone with the core return.... bring your busted ***** up there when you go to buy your new ones so they don't require you to pay a core charge....

Yup, i got mine got $70 a piece at autozone. You dont have to bring the stock axles in when u buy the new ones, you can take it back the next day or whatever and theyll refund you the core charge. Also, cant beat a lifetime warranty! I was kinda scared after i put the new axles in and i heard a clunk when i was driving and made a sharp turn. Since then it stopped, i guess you just gotta drive it and let the axles set into place.

NO, definatly a bad idea... you can snap the new axle and cause even more damage to your car then already exists if you don't install the axle properly. you want to seat it in the tranny as hard as you can... it will pop in place... you can go under the car and see if it's fully inserted. i usually push the axle in and then pull it out a little and push it back in real quick a few times in a row... don't pull too far out too hard or you can break your axle though...just about half an inch is all you need.
as for the core charge... yes you can just pay it and get it refunded a day later, but why? you can't drive the car anyway... bring your busted axles up and don't even fool with the core charge process. i dunno about yall but i don't want autozone holding any of my money for me....

No actually i did set it into place when i was installing it. I pushed it in until the snap rings popped into place. I dunno why i made a clunk noise when i made that 1 sharp turn but it doesnt do that anymore
And as for the core charge, I said that because some people (like me) dont have the convenience of having another car to drive to the parts store when im working on mine most of the time. I meant you can buy the axles before you even start working on your car, and do the core exchange later. All you need to do is not lose the receipt in the 1 day you wait to bring the core back.

i took it in to a mechanic today and he said it was the right side shock. I replaced the spring with a maxspeed one a while ago. The shock is blown since the maxspeeds are so gay. He said since its blown the shock is loose or something, so that needs to be changed so the sound can go away.
Wow really? I never expected it to be that. I thought it had something to do with something that rotates, like the axles or rotors or something since you said it sounded like a helicopter and got faster and faster as you drove.
me too. Im freakin out man. But it doesn't always get fast as i drive. I don know. I hope nothing breaks and i don't get stranded somewhere, but imma call my friend to ask him if his friend can change my shocks and springs and soon as possible. I don't want this on my shoulders anylonger.
hmmm, I've never heard of a shock-related problem like that. My shocks creak, and they tapped on my old car, but nothing like that. Are you sure that's the problem?
yes there stock shocks. thats what im thinking, but what else could it be. I don know. Thats what the mechanic said. I just hope its nothing more serious.
man **** it was the god damn lug nuts. I got under the car...looked all over. Finally i lowered the car back down and i noticed on the right side it was missing 2 lug nuts. wheel lock and other lug nut fell off somehow. So i went to advanced auto parts and bought 4 wheel locks and put two of them on the car. Thank god, no more spending on the car now holy **** what a releaf.
