RSX Type-S Owners ---> Need Your Input!
After some careful thought (and budgeting), I came to the conclusion that I'll be able to get a Type-S this time next year. By then, my '97 GS-R will be paid off, and I'll have a brand new canvas to work on. Depending on my income by then, I'll either go for mild or wild on both exterior, interior and engine mods.
I just want to know from the owners' mouths what they like/dislike, love/hate about the Type-S they own. I've already heard rumblings about the BOSE™ stereo how it should be the first to go out.
I ain't no gearhead keep the "import lifestyle" jargon low.

i love this car it's a fun car to drive and every car i ve raced i ve beat so this cars got great potential ... as far as the speakers .. i havent heard anything, but that got to go any ways
Thanks for the input, dookie.
I just want to get some input from the people who actually bought the car - the ones that see it as an investment, not just some project car Honda gave to 'em to get the word out.

I am stereo guy and i do not think it is that bad for a factory stereo. I have a top of the line Focal,PG, and Alpine deck in my GSR and i do not plan on doing anything to the stereo in the S
lack of an arm rest is REALLY anoying.
With a 6 speed i find myself shifting alot so a short -throw shifter is tops on the list
Shoulder checking is a pain. vision is not as good as the GSR for that. (but you have nice big mirrors)
Tires although an improvement on the GSR tires, they still suck.
other then that i very happy with the first three weeks of owning this car!! better then a stock GSR by far...

Thanks for the input redline...
I have a '97 GS-R with 108,000 miles on the tach. It's still fun to drive, but the thought of upgrading makes me smile, y'know? Anyway, I didn't realize that it didn't have an armrest! My girlfriend and I always fight for the damned thing... Oh well.
Vision is not as good as on a GS-R? Do Broadway mirrors help?
How do the tires suck? Traction? Road noise? Traction would be an issue, but road noise wouldn't bother me.

I am 6'3" when i shoulder check all i see is b piller!??! The rear window is tiny and not good for much. Just got too make sure when i change lanes in traffic. It something i am getting used to and i am adjusting my driving

Is that one of those huge *** rear view mirrors FOBs have in their cars???
I have a pretty small one with tint to prevent glare. Now, I don't think people (or your words, FOBs) get these mirrors for the sake of looking "cool". If you've seen genuine Broadways, they're ugly as hell - just a convex mirror with ugly black plastic surrounding it. But what it lacks in looks, it makes up for in the safety department. With the mirror, I can see BOTH rear windows, aiding in changing lanes and what not...
AND, I doubt only FOBs get these mirrors, as I've seen horrendous multi-mirrors that extend the whole length of the interior cabs on domestic vehicles.

i really don't have any problem with the BOSE stereo in my RSX-S. its sufficient, but its no damn ghetto blaster or nothing. What do you need a loud *** system in an RSX-S for it's already a damn head turner.
I've driven a GSR w I/H/E and I can tell you that the RSX gets up a lil quicker than a GSR. The easiest way to put it is that the RSX feels like it did hella creatine and got hella buff. And the thing that I probably like the best over all other cars that I have drove is that for some reason it seems like the RSX got power steering like whoa! I drove my sister's 96 prelude a few days ago and it felt like I was navigating a boat with the big *** steering wheel compared to the RSX. Other than that, it's a sick *** car.

I bought my RSX type-S in July, I paid $26,056 out the door fully loaded. two days ago I passed 7,500miles on the tach allot of miles huh, but anyone who owns one will agree with you just can't get enough of this car. The tires do kinda suck but you know how Z rated tires in the rain hop and make your dash almost fall off same thing with the stock tires. As for the stereo, it sound really clean I just put in 2 Xtant twelves in the back ran by a Pheonix gold amp running 125 watts per sub and it sounds killer defening high end clean nonratling bass. The 6 speed I find myself jumping from 2nd to 5th because the gears a really close together. The car handles really good for stock almost no body roll but could still use coilovers. Alot of engine noise sounds like it has aftermarket intake but its a cool noise. If you do buy a RSX good choice can't go wrong super fun car to drive but don't just take my word for it everyone is different and has different tastes, just go to your local Acura dealership talk to a salesman and go for a test drive and drive it like you stole it its the only way your gonna know.
Hmm, the only complaint i have about the car is the stereo.. Its BOSE but i think it sucks... Its great on high tones, but sucks on mid and base.... My familes DX accord with 2 speakers has better base!!! Anyway, beside that i love the car.
my uncles type S has a subwoofer in the spare!?
i dont' even know its there!
weak stereo
i finally ripped it...i was scared to do damage to it, i waited til 10k miles.
my say its alittle differnt then your typical dohc's
drives like my moms CRV but has some top end
i don't even think it has the same top end as a gsr though
better midrange and lowend diffinetly
this is an excellent daily driver, and a couple years little hopefully a good track car

I have had my RSX-S for a month now, and I must say I really like it now. I wasn't in love w/ it when I first bought it. Now, I can't get enough of it. People Jock it left and right. I got it fully loaded w/ spoiler and kit. It is very nice. The things I do no like about it are: The DAMN DOORS WONT SHUT ALL THE WAY UNLESS YOU SLAM THEM.... And the stereo, which is booty, but if you pull the rear seats down, it sounds 10 times better.... Trust me.
Compared to my Civic SI, the RSX is a BEAST!!! I love the seats compared to these crappy civic seats, the i-vtec gets up to high rpm's waaaaaaaaaay quicker than the b16 does, and i cant get enough of driving the car. The stereo system sucks, and I am planning an upgrade after this semester at school is done (and I can work some!!) Needs bigger wheels and to be dropped.
I love RSX although a bit pricey for type S. More interior room especially headroom is great for us tall folk. Performance is fantastic, need I say more? Only gripe I have is lack of solid bass on Bose system and I got a little taken on my Integra LS trade-in at dealershp.
But its an awesome ride, typical of Honda/Acura.
