I stopped in Autozone today cause I needed to change the oil in my car. Simple enough, eh? I knew that they didn't have royal purple or anything like that, but I had the time, and I wanted to get the oil change done today due to the warm weather. I found my filter, then proceeded to the oil isle. After combing the shelves, I decided on Valvolene Synthetic 10-30.

On my way up to the counter, I was looking at the oil additives like slick50 and Mystery oil and such. I read a couple of the labels, and they all brag about how they can fix your broken-*** 200,000 mile engine so that it runs like new...

Do these things actually help and do they work, or would I just be wasting money? I changed my oil without a hitch until I kicked the draining pan and sent oil all over my driveway

I also saw the fuel injector cleaners. Are those bogus too?

 

oil additives are a joke.. the higher mileage say they help slow leaks and stuff only caus they have some **** in it that swells your seals.. dont buy that ****.. maybe once every 2 mothes dump the fuel **** in your tank.. but def dont do the oil thing

 

yea i agree. oil additives do not work period! however chevron fuel system cleaner works well. i use 2 bottles once a month with a half tank of gas. restores lost power.
