Done Search and Need Expert Advice on CTR or ITR pistons for GSR
Looking to rebuild my gsr of 150k. Planning on a rebuild. I know CTR pistons create a higher compression, but how higher than ITR? Which ones will be a safer/better/reliable application for a n/a GSR? If you have done this upgrade give an example of the power increase. Thanks in advance people!
just threw in brand new itr pistons/bearings/rings and wrist pins all the block work was done and itr cams thrown in too. my cr is 11.2:1 and the motor pulls hard but i still have 98' gsr valves/springs/retainers so i shift at about 8k. my buttdyno says i got more rpms to go...
dyno charts come in 3/6, i kill 2dr gsr's and i have beatin a 14.4 sec. wrx by a bumper so if that helps...im a 4dr though
go with ctr's but throw i'd throw in a cometic hg.

i would throw in some jdm itr pistons for a more streetable compression with pump gas. ctr pistons would yeild to high of a compression like 12.1. U can also try using some p30 or pr3 pistons for 11.1+ compression. Any of these will definantly give u some good power. i would also upgrade to some arp rod bolts unless ur going to use some after market rods and have the pistons machined.
im runnin full ctr internals in an ls block and i haveta use 101 octane because my compression is 12.6:1 and im untuned... id go jdm itr if u dont want to spend a grip on gas. they are indeed more streetable
