Default Stupid Question Time.

Ok.
I have seen pics of cars that have the gauges on the column...
will some one describe some of these gauges to me.
Why so many, and normally what gauges you have for certain setups.

IE.. Nitros: Boost: what ever...
I recognize Tachs and oilpressure... just trying to figure out how many you really need...

Have other questions.. but need one thing answered at a time..

Sorry for the newbie question again

(Return of the newbie)

when you do a lot of upgrading to your car, more than just water temp, and a gas gauge are needed.

there are, but not limited to, fuel pressure gauges, boost gauges, air fuel ratio gauges, oil pressure gauges. most of these are vital when you have a highly modded car. and they are popular with ricers who don't have any mods on their cars.

Cool.. thanks..
OK.. second question...
lets say I was going to Boost my car.
What guages would I need?
and more importantly, How thick are the guages.

(I am building the ultimate sleeper. It might not be the fastest sleeper, but I will garuantee that you will not see a SINGLE gauge in my car unless you look REALLY hard.)

any one interested in how im doing it?
I will send you the blueprints when its done

It depends on how many you are willing to get. Most of the avialable gauges will be helpful for boost so you should decide how many gauges you want and then look for the best to get. So let us know how many gauges you want, then we coould probably help you out better.

ir order of importance... at least in my eyes... and i have the first 6
for a boosted car
-boost
-egt
-oil pressure
-water temp
-fuel pressure (higher importance on my list... but not for other people in car)
-volts

i also have a tach in my car... but a smaller one going to 10k... other guages that can be helpful but u prolly wouldnt need could be oil temp, most a/f guages are garbage so i wouldnt get one if i was u... hmmmm... thats about all i think
