well first of all none of the 2nd gens have power windows or power door locks. theres only a few diffrerence between 88-89 and 90 -91s. the 88 and 89 are lighter. seatbelts are mounted on the frame instead of door. front bumper is different. 88 has a different size clutch. 88-89 taillights are different. id go for an 88 hf if u can find one.
88 hf has the lightest body weight for the crx's best for full race conversions and motor swaps .......can still swap in motors with out major wiring unlike the dx ...88 si is ok but a little heavier than the hf
would it make a drastic diff because i found and 88 si in vt the guy wants liek 1000 i might be able to get him lower no rust the guy just spent 1000 bucks on new brake system he did a v tec head swap on it with headers exhaust and lowers it and **** only thing in craked front window and both frotn fenders are dented and rust ont he dents and front bumper is a little smashed no frame dmg

if your lookin for a sunroof si is the only way to go power sunroof is way better than the pop up garbage....as far as it leaking though i never had a problem with that on my 91 si....but not every car is the same...
I would trade my sunroof for a pop up one any day, they do come out and are a bit smaller, and leak less. and also the si sunroof with assembly weighs 30 lbs, add that to alot of the useless things in an Si and you have 1 second added on to your 1/4 mile, get an HF if you want performance, but if you want looks then the SI is fine

its NOT only the 89year where that happens.

I just got a 88 Crx si and I love it. As for the sunroof leaking i have not had a problem at all. Fun car once you get used to no power steering (all the better).
As to the engine swap personally i would go for the B16 over the B18c5 (integra type R i believe) due to the fact that for autocross i think it is to much wait up front and kills the handling characteristics of the car. but it all depends on what you want your car to do.......Best of Luck
