Removal of crank belt pulley with no timing belt?
I cant, but this can. I had the same problem and this worked just fine.

Yup. Stick two bolts in the pulley and get a long metal rod, we used a bar from a weight set. Stick the bar between the bolts from the top of the car and make it so that when you turn the pulley, the bar will get caught on the motor mount and take your breaker bar and snap that bitch loose.
Just make damn sure the motor doesn't turn when you do it. If you want to be certain pull the caps on the camshaft. So all valves close then you won't have an issue if it does move. Abd before anyone says anything I made the mistake 3 years ago putting a rebuilt head on a D15 , bent 2 valves because the crank rotated.

Well, I tried your method. It bent the steel rod that I used and the bolts used to secure it were snapped. You guessed it the pulley is still there. I have now contacted Snap On tools for the specialized tool to remove the pulley. I will keep you posted on my results. If it works I will have to throw a small party to celebrate. I have never found a bolt that is so stubborn.
wanna talk stubborn??
i helped my buddy take his off on his 89 SI the other day
was a bitch
\we tried a big breaker bar with a 4 foot tube, no dice
a inmpact gun with 125 psi, no dice
we heated the bolt up, and no dice
jumping on the tube with some bolts on pulley no dide
i put a breaker bar on the bolt against the motor mount... rolled the car backwards on 1st and popped the clutch, and it stopped the car right there (3 times done, the opposite method of big V8 people)
and at the end we lifted the car on the air , put breaker bar agaisnt it with 2 people, 6 foot pole and it came off after 15 min of pushing
now THATS A BITCH!!!

If you have pulley moving problems get a chain pipe wrench and that will keep it from spinning, brace it against the chassis.

What did you do to remove the bolt. I have been able to keep the pulley from moving; however, I have not been able to remove the bolt. I have tried a 5 foot extension on my breaker bar and a 750ft/lb impact wrench. Do you have any other suggestions?
jeeeeeeeez! anyone here really wanna know the easiestway to do it . huh? huh? first jack car up , take the flywheel dust plate off of the bottom of the tranny . there is the bottom of the flywheel exposed . now take a engine slinger that normally is hooked at the driver side of the head . (little piece of metel with 2 holes in each end ) . take one hole and put one of the 12mm olts you took out of the dust plate and screw it in the hole on the tranny near the flywheel . now take another bolt andslide it thru one of the holes on the backside of the exposed flywheel . now you have an indestructable lock on the crank. you should have no problem breaking the bolt loose now .
I have opted for the easiest way. I am taking it to a machine shop to have it removed. It should cost $50 and save me hours of time as compared to the constant battle I have been having for a week. Should be done by noon today.

an engine slinger is what you use to hook a chain to and pull the motor out of the car . you can use anything with 2 holes in it to lock the flywheel in .
Well, I got the bolt off. I cut the pulley and it came right off. I guess in a lot of these older motors, that haven't had proper upkeep, the bolt is torqued further by the pulley and the threads seize. Thanks for all of your valuable input.
