Default 12" sub enclosure Q?

Does anyone know if in a DC@ integra you can customize an enclosure for a 12" sub to fit right behind the seat and still mount a strut bar-

or is that waaaay too close-- from my measuring there is abuot 9 inches of space there and my sub is only 6 deep, if i use 5/8" MDF i should be able to keep it under 9 "

but the catch is that my measurements arent exact seeing as i dont have a strut bar yet--- any ideas -- thanks guys

my friend made a flat subbox, about 4-5" high, just high enough to clear the strut bar, and made up the airspace by making it a bit wider. pretty nice, ill try to get some picstures if i can.

that is what i planned on doing but a lot of sound ppl are telling me it needs to be deep for airspace. and that the length wont help much--- they are telling me it will sound bad....

trying to get some more advice

DO NOT make a box so shallow that there is less distance from the magnet to the bottom of the box than the woofer is deep. It will cause resonance and unwanted woofer damping, resulting in slightly distorted bass and longterm woofer damage.

<-----knows alot about car/home stereo and box design

... but as long as there is a few inches from the rear vent on the woofer you should be "...OK"
