Default jdm e-brake cover question

i got the "armrest eliminator" or "jdm e-brake cover" for my itr... i still don't know what to really call it.

anyway, after taking off the center console, there are two metal tabs sticking out of the center out of the carpet just behind the e-brake cover (the center console screws went into these tabs). i didn't look under the carpet to see if it could be removed. question is, is there a way to remove these metal tabs?

Did you get the hardware that goes along with the center cover? I just got it and the hardware and I thought, I said I thought that you don't need to modify anything for it to work. I have it here but havn't had the chance to put it in. I also want to know if you do have to modify in order to work.

The original USDM 2-pronged metal tab is supposed to be removed. You can fish it out by playing with the carpet in that area. You are SUPPOSED to get the JDM 2-pronged metal tab to properly secure down the jdm console.

But is it really an "armrest eliminator" being that the car it came from never had an armrest to eliminate?
