I can get a brand new set of ITR cams for $600 CDN but what else will I need? My stock valvetrain is okay, right? I'll need cam gears, but will I need a V-AFC also? Can my v-tec crossover stay the same? I did a search but I couldn't find the exact answers I am looking for.

You'll be fine if you only replace the cams and nothing else. Changing the crossover point won't gain peak horsepower, but it may smooth out the torque curve since I beleive a dip in power may be experienced with the stock x-over point and ITR cams.

when I installed mine, I did nothing else, pretty easy install too. With the ITR cams in, power felt good on the butt-dyno, and there is a surge of power at VTEC. I am understanding this surge as actually a 'dip' in the curve on a dyno, so I patiently am waiting to tune mine on a dyno, but until then, they are a great upgrade on their own.
I have a chipped ECU on the way, and am putting in a B&M fuel pressure regulator and guage... you can go that route or get a VAFC and fpr... the choice is yours, plus there are other options I didnt mention.... hondata, completely different ECU, and such... think about what you want the car to do, and what you use it for before you make any more purchases.

Agreed, you will probably need to raise it a little. Going to the second lobe anywhere below 5000 or so will cause a pretty good dip in power. I would probably go with the V-AFC first and then get the cam gears later if money is tight. You also might want to look at getting an intake manifold that's better at high rpm.

Thanks for the help guys. I think I'll just throw them in for now and when I get enough money, I'll get cam gears and a V-AFC so I can tune them properly.

get ur car tuned and dyno...don't mess with the v-tec cross over point, you might want to watch your hp curve and torque to see where it dips, usually if you can take off your rev limiter, you would want to red line @ 8400...vtec is so hard to tune so don't mess with the cross over point until you get it tuned

Is VAFC easy to use to tune your engine when you add different cams? Is the main purpose, other than messing with the vtec point, to even out/adjust the air fuel ratio?
