which tranny for 93 gsr?
Ok which tranny is ideal to use on a 1993 GSR with stock B17. Main purpose would be daily driver, don't want to spend much because due to lack of funds. thanks guys!
Also how much do GSR trannies usually go for in good but used condition?

fixing your tranny is all gonna depend on exactly whats wrong and worn inside. Could vary from 200-700. The going rate for a GSR YS1 is about 5-600, so either way your gonna spend the money. If it was me, i'd take it to the tranny shop and have them inspect it and fix anything that is messed up or worn. That way with the 5-600 u spend, u know what your getting, and also they will be brand new parts.
there is no way around it
you are going to spend some $$$$$
buy another tranny then work on the one you busted..
add some lsd into the mix and change some ratios..

a full rebuild is going to cost more than finding a used gsr ys1.... but who cares. Chances are if you find a gsr ys1 its going to have a decent amount of miles on it. And these trannies are known for having third gear synchro problems. So, the chances of you getting a tranny (even if it doesn't grind when you buy it) and having to fix it in not too long is a good one
It took less than a year for my tranny to go from almost never grinding 3rd to grinding all the time above 4k, unless you shift super super slow. It also grinds if I double clutch at higher rpm.
Obviously its not in everyone's budget to just fork out and rebuild their tranny, sometimes you are gonna have to just find one and buy it. But IMO if there is any way you can spend a little more to start off with basically a brand new tranny.... DO IT. I can't wait till I can afford to rebuild mine

just throw a ls ys1 in there, same tanny just different ratios. You can get a used one for around 250-350. Pretty much any cable b-series tranny will work.
