Default Snapped Axle..UPDATED

my teg officially dead @ 8:33AM..i was starting from a stop, pushed the clutch in and put it in first and took off and BAM! there goes my tranny,i (not my clutch)cant get any gears at all and here i am coasting in the middle of the intersection..thank god it was on a downhill slope or i would have been f'd. my input shaft bearing is bad and my engine just got swapped and the tranny has 260,000 mi on it vs. a 77,000 mi engine..so now im in the hunt for a new tranny..considering i needed one any way since my sycnro's are going bad and not to mention the input shaft bearing and my release bearing..so just wanted to vent here and im really ticked off..no car at all..now i gotta catch the cheez wagon every morning. im lookin for a b16 or gsr tranny if anyone knows someone who has one for sale.

heres the pics:

weight reductions -

we had the bumper off and all because since the teg would have alot of down time so we took off the a/c drier, condenser coil and rest of the stock air intake..

and the thing is it was just under normal take off..just imagine if this happened on the drag strip?? im glad it happened now tho..but can uall see that rust where it snapped? wouldnt that mean it was already cracked somehow before? how else could that rust on the inside? could that be a defect or somehow it got snapped before and rusted?

man that stinks, especially with that weather. but... at least you are making something positive about it....

when you take your a/c out, it would be a good idea to keep that torque mount in place to help minize engine movement.... i'm talkin about the motor mounton the a/c bracket...... i ground the a/c tensioner thingy off so it looked better.... i'm a stunna

oo i still have that torque mount..thts just the old one from the other engine since the OEM rubber mount was broken..so we used a different one..yea and my friends are always helpin me on my projects..mad props to them..

but as for the tranny, if i can find a b16 or gsr hydro tranny..but if i cant ill settle for the ls tranny..as for the drivetrain parts: Exedy organic clutch set with 8.8lb chromoly flywheel

while you've got some downtime go ahead and fill your torque mounts with window weld

it'll take 3-4 days for it to fully cure but i doubt if you'll be driving that soon anyway....

do a quick search and you'll see a billion (ok, maybe 20) topics on how to do this.....

-Erik <--- who'd suggest sitting them on top of the tv or computer monitor for 3-4 days to help speed curing

well..too late now..i would have done that but i got the teg all back together and running now..and in the mean time i finally fixed what was to be believed as the input shaft bearing on my tranny yet it was my custom test pipe clamps that came lose causing my test pipe to rattle like a heat shield..so im glad that its not my tranny... soo now just waitin for my tax money to get my header and 2.25" exhaust for my n1.
