High Idel in my 88'CRX B16A :wtf?:
ok, as I got onto the off-ramp, I push in my clutch an my idel went up to 2800rpm's. I thought the throttle was stuck so I taped it,and it came back to 2800.
As I drove off, in gear it idels at 9-1100, but when I push in the clutch it shoots up to 2800.
WTF is this all about? Anyone have any clue why this just started? or what to check out first? TIA.

ok...i'm doing a SEARCH and posting what I'm finding out.
Shouldn't I be throwing a code for the IVCA and will one off my 98gsr head work on my odb0 b16?
Also the motor has had time to cool down. Now when I start it, its ideling at 3000.
Anyone else have this happen befor?

pull your intake off right at the throttle body and stick your finger over the lower of the two holes inside the throttle body towards the fire wall. If the idle goes down to about 900 then it's your Idle air control. That has been the problem in several cars I've dealt with and an easy fix is to unbolt the throttle body and put a piece of thin plastic sheeting or something(even have used aluminum foil) over the hole and bolt the throttle body back together.

what you have sounds most like a vacuum issue.. I've had this problem twice and it was because one of my vacuum hoses had a hole in it. Another time it's because I had them attatched wrong.
Check the EACV, or is the EACV and IACV the same things?

I think theyre the same, my helms always refers to it as the EACV and I couldnt find IACV when I was looking so I "assume" its the same. Throttle body has TPS, then back of intake mani was the EACV or IACV, then the FITV (fast idle thremo valve) thats what I base it on...

****! its monday night and I just got home. I didn't get a chance to look at into it yet(was @ Sonics-vs-Celtics game
). Will this harm my car if I drive it? Its about 44miles round trip, to work and back. Will my car be cool? or should I just leave it parked?

When the throttle plate is open then the intake manifold get's all it's air from the TB but when your foot is off the gas pedal then the throttle plate is closed and the intake manifold get's it's air from the vacuum hoses.
So, no, it will not hurt your car.

as for the vaccum lines:there all new.
1 more Q: will the IACV from a gsr head fit my b16?

come on, someone. I have a IACV from a GSR head, but its been raining non stop.I don't want to stand in the rain and compare IACV's. Someone help me out.
I dont see why it wont work but then again the two intake manifolds are very different........just try cleaning your IACV with parts cleaner/carb cleaner chances are its gunked up and clean your T/B and intake tube as well. Do you need a new air filter????
Alot of times if your pcv is bad too and your not venting crankcase pressure's correctly youll tend to suck more oil into your intake tube(from the fresh air tube going from your valve cover to intake) and clog up your T/B, intake manifold, and IACV.
Your IACV(Idle Air Control Valve also known/stated as EACV-Electronic Air Control Valve) Has a duty cycle of 20 to 80% roughly. If its not functioning mechanicaly correctly well then yeah your going to have a high idle/irratic.......if its an electrical issue it should most likely throw a code.
To me honestly it sounds like you have a loose vacuum line, spray soapy water from a spray bottle over all your lines, while the engine is idling, if you see bubbles start spurting up, or you hit a line with the spray bottle and the idle increases then that is where your vacuum leak is.
And earlier you stated you replaced all your vacuum lines, you replaced every single line?? if so that should give you even more reason to check them, may have not tightened one completely, or didnt even put a clamp on one that requires it.

Weel on my lunch, i pulled off the IACV, and yes it was drirty, the screen on the leftside was almost closed. I took an aic comperssor and tried to blow it clean, but it didn't work. I'm gonna get some cleaner and try again. Should I just spray it everwhere? Or do I have to take this thing apart?
As for the filter its about 6months old.
No bubbles when I saryed soappy water.
where is the PCV?
CN: A GSR IACV will not work/fit

Just use carb cleaner/parts cleaner and put it into either of the holes/tubes in the IACV and spray it until you get liquid coming out at both ends, do it continiously, let it dry and reinstall, you might wanna reset your battery as well, and perhaps even reset your idle, shop manual will tell you how to do this, or do a search its all over HT.
the PCV is located underneath the fuel rail, its underneath the fuel rail follow the middle tube on the center of the intake manifold down underneath the fuel rail, and pull up on the black plastic peice that is your pcv.

i plug those two holes and it brought my idle down now it doesnt have a high idle while on neutral and it doesnt eat as much gas either.
