help wid skunk 2 shortshifter install?
alright i want to install a my skunk 2 short shifter but i dont want to Remove the 3 bolts that connect the exhaust B-pipe from the catalytic converter. (It's the triangle flange. i heard that the short shifter can be installed w/o removing the exhaust b-pipe. By removing the shifter stab from the tranny itself. which way is easier? and if anyone can tell me how to remove the shifter stab itself. pics would help too....thanks
Removing the shift linkage might be harder for you if you dont have the right tools.
1) Remove the 10(or 12mm) bolt that bolts into the side and slide off one of the arms.
2) Slide back the rubber boot from the second arm and remove the C clip that is on there.
3) You'll need to get a center punch (5/16ths i believe) and start banging that pin outta there. If its the first time it's ever coming out, it will be a pain. Air hammer works well to get it started, and the punch to get the rest out.
Once that is done, you can just slide it off the tranny, might take a few good tugs to get it removed.
It just may be easier for you to take off the 3 bolts.
Good luck

Don't remove the shift rod w/ the spring pin, just unbolt that one from the shifter and let it hang down. Then you can unbolt the torque rod from the transmission, and then unbolt the other end from under the center hump, and then you can remove the torque rod and shifter completely (shift rod still hanging under the car). If you need some extra room you can unbolt the B-pipe from the muffler rear section and let the B-pipe hang down.
