Everyone should have true coilovers (basically shocks with integrated springs, the shock tube is threaded so you can adjust height like Groundcontrols) but they're too expensive. A decent street/track set is $1,500.
The benefit over the buget coilover, which would be like a shock (Tokico, Koni, KYB, etc) and Groundcontrols and springs (Eibachs if you get GCs), is increased suspension travel. You can get a set of GCs with Eibach cutstom rate springs and adjustable KYBs for like $5-600.
I won't even get into adjustable rebound and compression.

i know someone that can get vis coilovers for about $200....sound about right? too cheap? not good quality? if i were to get just regular springs..how much would they set me back?

so coilovers are shocks with springs and stuff.. and springs is just springs? is that the difference? do they both lower your car.. and with coilovers, you get to control the amount dropped?
Whiteconfusion, it really depends what you want to do with your car. Do you just want to lower it? Get something like Eibach Pro Kit springs.
If you've got a daily driver/weekend track racer, you don't want to skip on suspension.

Half way down the page they explain their Phases 1 through 4, from a simple shock and spring setup through fully adjustable height, compression and rebound coilovers.

stage II Truechoice coil over kit = +/-$1100....... great setup for street and track
they will work out the spring rate with you for your application and car, i would recommend this to anyone
if you want cheap stability just get rear sway bar and front strut bar..... that makes a huge difference

get Coil-overs! I had Weapon-r, but the spring broke (they suck!). I just got my Ground Control coil-overs put in today, and I love them! I would by them for my next car, and the car after that
i got my GC for like $336 shipped...thats the lowest price ive found for GC...www.nopionline.com

hey you people with GC, does your rear end rebound really bad as a result of the high spring rate? I have the Skunkworks coilovers, and the back springs are so stiff that they really rebound on any dips and bumps in the road... Last time I drove to NYC up the NJ Turnpike nearly killed my passenger...
well when i got over bumps the back end of my car jumps up...its kinda bad...i have 2 12's in my truck and i went over a speed bump today at like 5mph and i was watching it and my box jump about an 1 inch!! is there anything to help that? ( not the box...the car?)
ive heard this from alot of people after the lower their car with coilovers and any brand shocks/struts there car bounces like a trampoline. someone said something about a camber kitto fix it..
Do REAL coilovers (not Skunkworks, GC, Weapon R) offer better ride quality than "performance springs" and coilovers (such as Skunkworks, GC, Weapon R)? I know they offer better performance, but what about street ride quality?
I dont think there is any way a camber kit would fix a "bouncey' problem, camber is the angle off the vertical axis. If your car os lowered it will help tirre wear and might help with the car pulling, tracking, wandering. I
here's the thing. stock hondas and most spring sets have a higher spring rate in the front than the back. so the rear end is softer or cushier than the front. if you go hi-po and want to reduce understeer, you'll probably get a set of springs that has i higher spring rate in the rear than the front. Now your rear end is bouncing like a jack rabit. you can adjust shock to dial out as much bounce as possible, but your rear end is still going to be a trampoline compared to stock.
actually, by getting a camber kit, your car will ride harder... even though it may seem negligible, the corrected 2 degrees provided by a camber kit puts more pressure on the inside part of the tire... so your tire is essentially flat on the ground and the weight of the car is distributed more evenly...
my truechoice setup is perfect for the street bacause my rear spring rate is 350 and front is 300 with Koni yellows which are rebound adjustable which helps you dampen the rebound to where you like it.
I just found out that my Skunkwork coilovers have a spring rate of 500 per corner... that's outrageous! No wonder my rebound is so hard in the rear...
anyone have the spring rates for Neuspeed springs? There were 3 lineups, the soft-sport, the sport, and the race springs. Anyone know the spring rates for the sport springs or the race springs?
