Help w/ horrible Odor..
recently, my vents are blowing a horrible oder into the cabin.. it smells like burnt oil, gas, and trann fluid combined... its so bad, i 'd rather drive around w/o the heat on.. i also want to add that i recently turned on my AC to help cycle the oil and refrigerent, which is recommended in the winter...
i'm thinking, this is the reason for the horrible odor... has anyone else experience this and how did you take care of it..?

That happend to me once in my 91 civic when I first bought it.
The smell was like oil, but I couldn't really see anything out of
the ordinary under the hood. It eventually went away, and I
never figured out what it was. It was crazy nasty tho...
Someone suggested that I may have ran over a plastic bag, or
a I had a clogged cat...
Do you have spilt oil all over the place or what?

i'm thinkin its a clogged cat... how does a clogged cat smell like anyway?? and how the heck can that oder get into the vent system??
Bad cat will usually smell similar to rotten eggs... another source of your smell is that you could have a bad Evap core... (this is the small rad in ur heater system that removes the heat from the air that blows thru it, part of ur AC system) Check ur exhaust for the same smell... I doubt you would catch wiff of it unless you had a leak towards the front...
Another note..
Alot of vehicles will actually cycle the AC on/off with your defrosters... This is tied in becuz some people arent smart enough to cycle their AC a bit in the winter to keep the oil moving in the compressor. Im not sure how common this is in Honda/Acura vehicles... something I will check into tho...
Other than that... try the bleach i guess lol

i figured it out!!..
STUPID ME..
yesterday i put in about 1/2 quart of oil in the engine and forgot to put the cap back on and closed the hood.. i guess i simply forgot to do that important step..
well this morning i happened to open my hood just to check thnings out, and i notice my whole engine bay was covered in oil and the cap was still sitting on my valve cover.. i also noticed oil on that black plastic piece up by the windshield.. and i do suspect that's how the horrible smell entered into the cabin...
arrgh... i'm just glad i still had enough oil in the engine b4 i noticed it...
thanks for your replies though..
