Default THinking of getting a 93 GSR

the car has a mint body and interior. It has 130,000 KM on it. BUT the problems are it burns oil, a liter between changes, is that something to worry about? I want a realiable car that is not gona give me problems. I also know that one of the rear brakes seazed and was redone. Also the shift into second is not smooth when launching and revving high, but normal driving the shift is cool. What do you guys think is the car ok, I am worried about the burning oil the most. And what would be a fair price for this car I am in Toronto Canada... Any feedback would be very helpfull... thanks in advance.

How much are they asking? Burning a little oil is not uncommon for an 11 year old car. It can give you room to bargain. The not smooth 1-2 shift is pretty common too, third will go next. My '90 has this problem if I shift it hard. It has done it for the 5 years i've owned it and it's never gotten worse. I don't make a habit of speed shifting it though, if you shift it like you're supposed to it should last for a while.

He is asking between 6 to 7K canadian think thats around 5300 to 5900 USD (thank thats what the exchange rate should make it). But with the burning oil issue is it gona be an issue in the next year, how many more KM can I go on this engine. Also as for the shifting problem, is it a cluch issue or a tranny one... OHhhh yah I know the guy uses synthic oil, dont know if that make a diff with the oil burning issue...

The oil burning could be attributed to the fact that the DOHC VTEC engines are notorious for burning certain types of oil, specifically Mobil 1. I don't think there's anything to worry about.

5300 to 5900, isn't that a little too high for an 11 year old car?

That does seem a kind of alot. But get a compression/ leakdown test and see why its burning oil. I dont think its worth it if you have to rebuild.

For that price you can probably find a good 95 GSR with fewer miles.

thanks for the advice sooo far, but what if I settle for $5500 canadian thats like $4000 US.. Or should I really let it go and maybe get a better deal later.. The only reason I kinda want the car is that it is a GSR, which are rare as it is, also he is throwing in rims with good tires 50%... Anyways if I can get a newer one with less clicks then I will let it go.... I hope I am not sounding tooo annoying, but I just have to know, I want to get the most bag for my bucks........
