i guess it really depends on your insurance as well....and your deductable...i know my deductable is $250, so either way...if i go throug insurance, its gonna cost me $250...but i dont know what the price is for a windshield if you DONT go through insurance...

same thing happened to me,about a quarter size chip in the middle of the windshield...cost was 250.00 installed with a new window molding,well first i was stressing it cause my inspection was due this month and i didnt want to spend 250.00 to fix it...passed inspection yesterday with the chipped windshield....

175 for a new PPG windsheild with install at the house. cheaper than the 250 insurance deductible. now the mercedes...its good to use the insurance for that one. whew...thats an expensive piece of glass.

so they come to your home to change your car glass? sorry i've never heard of getting car service done at home so it wasn't 'self explanatory' to me. thought it was some term. could've just explained it instead of tryin to be such a smart ***
