6x9's in trunk lid...hot or not.
if i'm wrong...and the majority of the people say they look good.
i'm wrong. all the power to you.
a few points i'd like to make first.
they advertise your speakers to potential thiefs.
they're not enclosed
they'll reflect off your rear window.
if you don't do it right, you'll have loose wires hanging in your trunk
our cars were made to have 6.5's or 6x9's on the side...not in the middle. why change something that's worked fine for over a decade.
your speakers will be exposed to the sun. more susceptible to breaking or losing quality.
impractical if you ever move anything with your car.
and finally...it just doesn't look right. it's not ugly. but it doesn't flow with the look of the car...and it just isn't pleasing (to me).

Actually, I thought about putting some components with tweets and 6x9s in the trunk so when you open the trunk to flaunt the bass, then they can here the whole song. Not just the bass. But the trunk lid idea would work well in my opinion.
But then again, I don't drive the teg, it's a trailer queen.

yes... i had kenwood 4-way 6x9's in my old DC2. they were squeezed in there pretty tight, but they were in there. i would just go with some nice 6.5's
DONT put them in the trunk lid. that is ghetto fabulous and, as previously mentioned, is like a big sign that says "STEAL MY ****!"

six speaker sound compared to four......good alternative to adding a sub/amp......mine are enclosed........change is good..........my old DA had rear factory positioned speakers exposed to the sun for a decade and still worked well...............I move stuff with my car, and I take the cargo cover off with the speakers and still put it in my front seat the way I use to do when I didn't have the speakers installed in it, try doing that with a amp/sub bandbox combo........finally, corona if you lose this poll, it doesn't mean your wrong.......just in the minority, and that's not so bad
here is a pic from my teg with the 6x9s in the cargo cover that was posted in beaterman's thread that inspired corona to start this poll. happy to contribute
i dont think they look that bad, but sound (especially a 6X9) needs pressure to create a full sound....somehow the physics of it dont seem worth the time, money or weight imo

ok well all of this is your opinion just like last time.
how are 6 speakers worse then 4?
not impractical because you use connectors to wire them and dont ghetto rig your ****. this way the trunk lid still has its taking out abability.
by enclosed do you mean like in the side of the door enclosed or the **** that they call enclosed in the back seat?
speakers in the back have worked for over a decade in 4 door cars too.
last time i checked all 4 door speakers are exposed to sun too. does this make them bad cars?
and if it does not flow with the car then why do the 4 door integra's have them. i believe it flows fine.
i just figured out why you think the **** will get stolen. cause your **** got jacked. sorry to hear this but man it does not happen to everyone.
also i think it is kind of shady when you are selling some pioneer speakers that you bought a week ago. then are trying to buy some new speakers the same day saying that your car got broken into. sorry to jack the thread man but something is wrong with this picture.

Multiple speakers playing the same sounds (i.e. speakers in the front and rear playing the same signal) is a very bad thing....the ideal audio system is only two speakers that play from 20Hz to 20kHz...

Car manufacturers have no clue on where to put speakers, so I would never take their suggestions as how well they do in fact work.
I know I'm a bit of a special case, and I'm willing to make the proper locations for speakers in a car, but that's how I view rear speakers...simply put, they SUCK!!

lol...yea, probably looks shady.
i bought the speakers off a honda-tech member about a week before all my stuff got stolen. they're like...80 watts max, 20 nominal. i figured before that i didn't need something top of the line, because i already had a pretty good system. but now that the system's gone...i'm just looking to get something good, without a system. so i'm seeing if anyone wants them, so they're not just laying around here...$25 down the tubes.
hope that explains it.

The only time speakers shoud be mounted onto any rear deck is when that's where the factory speaker was, and is covered. Being able to look into a back windo and see a 6*9 or a 6 1/2 with grille covers is absolutely ***, doesn't matter how fancy the speaker grill is ---it just looks like ***

speakers should never be installed in the back at all....unless you're putting a 5.1 system in there.

In both my cars, I don't use rear speakers.... but any 4 dr I've ever had has had speakers on the rear deck, And I used them for a soft rear fill, nower near as loud as the front and it sounded nice, as well as more pleasant for the other passengers. never is a strong word, when it comes to cutting a hole in a cargo cover then it is never, but never use rear speaker except when doing a 5.1 is a little extreme, a well built system can still use rear speakers, although doesn't necessarily need them
