How to activate vtec with Tach w/ shift light?

please no flame, i just want to know what you connect to what in order to activate vtec with an aftermarket tach. getting a vafc in a few weeks, but i just want to activate it so i know vtec works with my new engine.

well your vtec solenoid is looking for 12V, which the ecu sends when it is programmed to. I'm guessing you tap into the power wire for the light and run that to the positive on the solenoid. It's kind of a screwy way to do it, since you are not taking in the current as a variable.
